PBL praying mantis

                                            This is my praying mantis model for my PBL,
                                    

1. I made this praying mantis with these tools: tape, newspaper,hot glue,pipe cleaners and other tools.

2. This little praying mantises name is fizzle pop berry twist (don't judge the name OK!!

3. What i enjoyed about about making fizzle pop berry twist was its wings because i had really fun making it because of its shape.

4. What i am most proud of is legs because when I started making then praying mantis i thought it wouldn't stand but with the help of Mennat the legs could STAND!!!!

Introduction  

                                            

A praying mantis is a insect that can be bright green,brown and lots of other colors they look mighty strong but can be harmless to humans. Here are the body parts of a praying mantis first there is girp spines, head,mandibles, front legs, wings and its other four back legs.  The praying mantises eyes would remind you on some sort of alien, its eye can be lots of variety of colors, some are reddish brown and -some are just bright green.                                                                                            

What they eat

A Praying mantises eat all sorts of insects like: Beetles,bees,crickets and much more. They are have also been known to eat small birds and wasps/bees. A praying mantis eats by first trapping it with its sharp spines on its front legs and then it takes its prey away to a safe place to eat it. Did you know that praying Mantises are really slow eaters, but you should NEVER bother a praying mantis while it is eating,because it will be very aggressive.

Praying mantises are helpful to the environment because they don’t actually just eat to protect themselves, they also eat pest insects such as grasshoppers, crickets and cockroaches. They also help by getting rid of dead things such as insects, plants and other animals.

Where they live?

Praying Mantises are found in some countries in the world, such as  Africa, America and New Zealand. Praying mantises live in green and leafy land and trees. Also, praying mantises live in warm and sunny places or gardens . They would always live in an environment that they can Camouflage in and be safe from predators such as birds, dragonflies and spiders.

                

 

Life cycle

A praying mantises life cycle is really cool, let me tell you. First, there's the adult praying mantis, if it is a female it will have to wait for a male to mate. If it's a male it will have to mate a female but it better run away afterwards or else it will suffer through… dying. Second is the egg case it will hatch throughout spring into a nymph then it grows into an adult. Did you know, if you try to catch adult praying mantises before spring or at spring it will be next to being impossible.

Defence

Camouflage is usually the defence for a praying mantis however if the praying mantis is threatened it will get its middle hind legs and will also spread its wings out and sway side to side. Did you know that a praying mantises enemies (hāpopo) are birds and tiny parasitic wasps?
